This series embodies drag artist Ginger Johnson’s innermost shame and desire, using non-bodily substances to explore sexual fetishes and fetishisation of the dragged-up body.

The images are overindulgent, glutonous and debauched, soaked in wet and messy food substances. Dripping down her flesh, the muddled bulk of this mixed up gloop pulls off the drag to reveal its disordered parts.

The images express the artist’s raw emotions and a complex relationship to gender and sexuality, embracing the absurdity of the human condition. We approach the dragged-up body with unflinching rawness and honesty, pushing it to extremes and excess, depicting emotional realities whilst subverting the idea of polish and perfection seen in much of today’s drag.
